Data Manager/Analyst
The Furman Center invites applications for a data manager/analyst position. The Furman Center, jointly housed at NYU’s School of Law and its Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, is the leading academic research center in New York City devoted to the public policy aspects of land use, real estate development and housing. Candidates should have experience working with large data sets and conducting statistical analysis (background in either SAS or Stata is preferred), as well as strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines. Knowledge of GIS and relational databases and interest in housing or local public finance are preferred. The successful candidate will have an MA in Economics, Statistics, or another appropriate discipline, or undergraduate training in computer programming and a minimum of 3 years related experience. The salary will be competitive.

Research Assistant
The Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy seeks a research assistant to help with data cleaning and analysis for its annual State of New York City's Housing and Neighborhoods report. The RA will work with a team of researchers at the Furman Center. The work requires close attention to detail; proficiency in SAS or STATA and experience working with large datasets is highly desirable. The RA must commit approximately 10-15 hours per week.
The Furman Center is a joint research and policy center affiliated with NYU Law School and NYU's Wagner School of Public Service dedicated to research, teaching, and dissemination of information regarding affordable housing and real estate issues.

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
The Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy at New York University invites applications for a post-doctoral research position. The Furman Center, jointly housed at NYU’s School of Law and its Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, is the leading academic research center in New York City devoted to the public policy aspects of land use, real estate development and housing. Research Fellows’ time is shared equally between independent research on topics of their choice and Furman Center projects, conducted jointly with faculty members, graduate students and staff. Recent projects have addressed such topics as the consequences of mortgage foreclosures, the effects of inclusionary zoning, the value of community gardens, and the impact of business improvement districts on property values.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, or other quantitative social science discipline; experience working with large data sets; strong econometrics skills; strong oral and written communications skills; the ability to work as part of a team and to meet deadlines. Interest in housing, real estate or local public finance and knowledge of GIS are pluses, but not absolutely necessary. Fellowships generally last one or two years and may begin as early as Spring 2008. Salary is $55K the first year; $60K the second, plus generous benefits.

Furman Center Law Fellow
The Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy at New York University invites applications for a post-graduate legal fellowship. The Furman Center, a joint project of NYU’s School of Law and its Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, is the leading academic research center in New York City devoted to the public policy aspects of land use, real estate development and housing. The Furman Center’s Law Fellowships are designed for promising legal scholars with a strong interest in housing, local government, real estate or land use law. The Fellow assists the Furman Center in a variety of research projects and co-authors published reports and articles with faculty and other post-graduate fellows. Recent projects have addressed such topics as mortgage foreclosure, inclusionary zoning, the value of community gardens, and the effect of business improvement districts on property values. The Fellow is given substantial time to work on his or her own scholarship and to prepare to enter the academic job market. The Law Fellow also is invited to participate in faculty workshops, colloquia and other scholarly forums at the NYU School of Law.
A JD degree, superior academic achievement, initiative, and a demonstrated interest in and commitment to scholarship are required. The salary will be $45,000 for the first year, and $50,000 for the second year, plus generous benefits.
